These are the shallow divers. They can hit 8 to 10 feet with mono. They have a very nice wobble with a hunting action. I found that using the screw eyes was killing the action of the bait. I started to use high grade stainless steel wire. I make all the baits from scratch. This lets me integrate the wire into the solid resin body from the start. It is not a through wire construction bait but it has very strong holding power. The way I put the lips into the baits from the start along with the build-up of the epoxy coats there is no way that lip is pulling out. I guess what I am saying they will hold for the musky's also.
The paint........... I think I have more time painting these dang things then the natural musky lures that I do. There are many layers of paint to give the depth effect I was looking for. Lots of pearls and metalic paints. It has been nice to play around with bright colors and patterns. The walleyes love those load / bright colors for sure.
