  • 40-45 gr. jig rod?

    Good evening

Im looking to buy a haspel-rod dedicated for fishing 12-14 cm. jigs with 15-25 gr. jig heads.

A rod around 7,6-8 feet with a casting Weight up to 40-45 gr.
I right now use a Abu Garcia EON 8' 12-42 gr. for this, and its a decent rod, but i want a more sensitive and responsive rod.

The Shimano Stradic 7,10f 12-42 looks interesting, but i dont like the Shimano Sustain that i owner and im afraid it reminds of me that blank.

Im also looking at the Abu Garcia Zenon 8feet 8-40 gr. ane Abu Garcia Spike Pro 10-40 gr., but im not sure if i like the ABU rods alot, but there isnt many other options as i see it.
I dont normally like the Westin rods, and find Them overpriced, but they make some rods with the right specs at least.
I also owned the Sportex Absolute NT, and didnt like that one either.

I really love the Shimano Zodias, Expride and Poison Adrena, but they dont come as heavy as i need for this. Already own the Expride 7' 7-30 gr., and its close to be heavy enough, but a bit to soft and a bit to short.
The Daiwa Prorex AGS are also rods i like alot, but they are not produced with the specs i look for in this rod.

Maybe some other rods classified 32-35 gr. could be strong enough?
Im not afraid to cast a 25 gr. jighead with a 17 gram jig on a 32 gr. rod if it have a super fast and stiff backbone.

Do you guys have any suggestions or inputs?

    Thanks in advance!

      Westin w4 finesse shad 7,6 12-38 g.

Will probebly upgrade to this myself, i have the lighter one and love it. Have several 5+ zander on it and biggest 9,485 kg. Nice backbone but feeling the same as you 14 cm shad with bigger head need some more casting weight.

        Update.

In my opinion there is a gap in the market for a decent 7,6-8 foot rod in the 10-50 gr. category. I wanted a around 8 foot that cast a 20-25 gr. loaded Shadteez 12 cm with ease, but still is very sensitive. Long effortless casts means alot to me.

I have tried the, Abu Zenon 8-40 gr, 'old' Daiwa Prorex AGS 12-42, the W3, W4 and W6 12-38ish, Abu EON 12-42, Sportex Absolute NT both 7 and 8 feet, and also St. Croix Legend Tournament Bass 7' 42 gr. and some other rods.

None of the rods is really spot on.

I just disqualify a rod if its shorter than 7,6, because the Way the load with heavy jig heads isnt good enough for my liking for Long casting.

The "old" Prorex AGS 8f 12-42 gr. casts very decent and is sensitive enough, but i dont like the 'tip action',

The Westin W6 is a decent caster and had decent sensitivity, and i could use that rod, but im totally not happy about it. It feels like a cheaper rod, and its similar to the ABU EON in my opinion.

Sportex Absolute NT just loads up weird when casting, and for its Price, just doesnt have the right balance, even though i could fish this rod and be halfway happy. It feels like a better rod than Westin and Abu EON when retrieving, but i REALLY dont like the Way it casts.
Somehow i prefer the EON of these 3 rods.

I could talk about some other brands to, but the rods just arent Long enough for What im searching in for in this rod.

        Abu Garcia Zenon 8-40 gr.
It has the casting abilities i search for.
Loads up Well enough with a 12 cm Shadteez slim with a 15 gr head, but Can also cast very decent with a 12 cm Shadteez with a 25 gr head.
Is sensitive enough and has a super Nice balance with a 2500 Certate.
I actually like this rod. It could have been better tho, and doesnt come very close to a imaginary 8 foot Poison Adrena 12-42 in a haspel-version, but is a okay subsitute in my opinion.
