Monk Lake Fisheries.
My Favorite haunt in Kent for a bag full of mixed fish
-----------------------------------------------------------
Great lakes full of loads of different fish, great results quiver tipping with superglued red maggots. Common carp to 16lbs, Tench to 5lbs on corn, lots of grass carp to 4lbs, nets full of rudd on floating casters in the summer. Carp to 30lbs on carp gear and boilies, i even had a 'barbel' on ledgered trout pellets!!! There are Big ghosties in there, koi carp, golden Tench. It's a fish farm aswell so the stocking levels are at a "can't fail" status.
2 lakes........ top lake and the bottom lake, i prefered the bottom lake as it produced a load of species i'd never seen before.
It probably has over 20 different species in there and there are no hook shy fish in there. Summer evenings are great for getting the carp on the surface as a last dangle before packing up (sunrise/0700 to dusk) 5 double figure carp in an hour on crust, is a great way to finish the day. Night fishing by arrangement only, 3 anglers only i think.
It was £10 for 1 rod for the day and £15 for two, but that was back in 95,96,97. Well worth the money as the bags of mixed fish you get in one day, could run to over 10 different species.
I had one carp rod out after the biggies and my trusty quiver rod that landed the 16lbs common i got on it.
there is a shop on site that sells bait and tackle and i think there is a burger van there at the weekends. there is also a nice porcilian "****ter" there and lots of rolls of "cumfy bum", no more wiping with leaves. During the summer you can even drive your car down to the swim, if you feel like a lazy slob and don't want to walk 200meters from the car park. But if its wet and your car gets bogged in "The tractor and driver" hire is £15 to pull you out. I spent a lot of "get away from the wife" time here for some "garunteed action"................. Quiver tip a few maggots, with ground bait and then count how many different species you catch. Be on your guard though??........ i lost count the number of times big carp had picked up the bait and smashed me up. I had more carp takes on the quiver than i did on the carp rod and boilies. I found that big trout pellets worked best here and rarley fished with boilies.
If you get bored go and have a wander round the fish breeding tanks in the sheds by the hut, these usual give you an idea of the different species that they throw in now and again for a giggle. Pink and blue ones. These fish belong in tropical aquariums not a muddy old carp puddle.
Oh yeah........ this place is right out in the sticks and is about 20 minutes drive from Maidstone towards Staplehurst/Marsden (i think)!!
I have plenty of diary entries and photos for the sessions i had here, should anyone want to here some of my results in this place.
I even still have the lake depth chart and all the day tickets stapled to the diary page!!!!
